feeling crafty

On Saturday Kim, Kristy and Paige went to the craft store and came back with craft supplies. Paige very kindly let me use her fabric paints, so I made a couple awesome shirts--one that says "I CAN DO ANYTHING I WANT!" (a quote from The King of Attolia) and the other says, "You can't," said the Magus in question and on the back it will say, "I can steal anything," Eugenides corrected him.(A quote from the Queen of Attolia)

And, though my shirts are awesome, I am almost as amused by Paige's apron. She had meant for it to say: "Kissing the cook may be HAZARDOUS to your health. Take a risk." but she kind of ran out of steam before she finished. So right now the apron reads, "Kissing the cook may be HAZARDOUS."

I kind of like it this way better.

Footloose and Fancy Free

Finals are over and I'm home for the holidays! Well, temporarily at least. I'll be heading back down to Provo to work (gotta pay tuition!) but I'm home this weekend, with no homework to do, no finals to study for, and new books to read--what more could I want? When finals ended I splurged somewhat and bought myself a hardback copy of The Christmas Carol illustrated by P.J. Lynch, because I could...and it was on sale, so really, it wasn't that big a splurge :-}. I'm really looking forward to reading it--Charles Dickens was a funny guy, and of course the illustrations will be awesome.

Now that I finally have TIME to tell all you blog readers (like, all three of you ^.^) what's been going on I can't really think what to say. Hmmm... well, some big news of the last couple weeks (heh) was that I got and ARC (Thats an Advance Readers Copy, to you non-book-nerds) of A Conspiracy of Kings by Megan Whalen Turner (the sequel to my absolute favoritest book EVER, The King of Attolia) which will be coming out in March or April and is MADE OF AWESOME (in case anyone was wondering). After I finished reading it I promptly passed it onto another obsessed fan, then to the next, then the next, who passed it on to several more, and I just got it back this morning and will be handing it off to the wonderful Shanelle tonight. (I really should try and count up everyone who has read this ARC, just to know, you know?) EVERYONE SHARE THE BOOK-LOVE. Book friends: I'm glad that you all understand me, and the awesomeness that is these books. And I'm glad that there is such a lovely concentration of us in Provo/Orem/SLC area.

We also had our roommate gift exchange and I got--wait for it--a Borders Gift card. Surprise! I also got a rather entertaining bookmark, with a pony on it--and it neighs when you press it. :-) I got Annie Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome... maybe as much for myself as for her, I'll admit, because I'll expect her to allow me to read it to her now. And she will enjoy it. Becasue Jerome K. Jerome was a funny guy.

I really don't have much else to say, so I shall now close :-D

Random Pictures

Everyone in costume!

OH NOES ANNILYN IS BEING EATEN.

Together at Brick Oven...

None of the roomies thought it could be done, but I proved them wrong. ALL my books ON ONE SHELF. Though this wouldn't work as a permanant storing methond... I had to give up my idea of reading a bit of Strong Poison before bed because I discovered that I'd very intelligently put it at the very bottom of a stack.

Costumes!

First I will say that, I have just now added a random quote generator to the side of my blog. Over on the left there, see it? The javascript and I had a bit of an argument over apostrophies, but it is there. I've been entertaining myself the last couple minutes by reloading the page over and over to see what quotes come up. There are more Lord Peter and Attolia quotes than anything else right now--whos surprised?--but I think I will add more quotes and it'll even out with time.

Now, on to the actual subject of this entry...

This Halloween season has started a week early, it seems. Since Halloween is a Saturday, people are scheduling parties a week ahead!

This year I decided to dress up as Attolia/Irene from The Thief, The Queen of Attolia and The King of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner. (Yes, the title character of the second book.) Yes, I know that nobody else really knows who that is. But if I did something everyone else likes I wouldn't have had near as much fun putting my costume together, and really, my own entertainment was all I really cared about anyway.

I was asked to make a Rustic Apple Tart for the Illustration Association party. (They gave me the recipe.) Here is the finished product:

And now some costume pics.

Life couldn't possibly, not even probably, life couldn't possibly better be!

The Last Week-or-so--in bullet points!

-The trip to California was great and relaxing. I got to read The Scarlet Pimpernel to my mom and siblings (see book blog) on the drive and they enjoyed it. (Of course. Sir Percy is Made Of Awesome.)
-visiting cousins is fun. Its great to be back with my roommates though. We have Good Times.
-When I did laundry after getting home from CA I made a discovery. My Art Nerd tee-shirt officially has a big smudge of Thalo Blue on the back. I figure, it was only a matter of time. It was going to happen sooner or later. I'm just not quite sure how it did happen.
-The Book Slump continues, but thank goodness for Librivox.org, Karen Savage and the Awesomest Job Ever.
-I think that Conspiracy of Kings should come out sooner. Or that I should get an ARC. I should probably work on that...
-A cleaning check on FRIDAY? Fortunately it was a light one and I woke up early enough that I got all my cleaning done, and they didn't look too closely.
-I think this is the first year in several that I will NOT be participating in any parades. Have fun with that, guys!
-I love the Court Jester. It is an awesome movie.
-little babies are fun to sketch.
-ANNILYN CAME TO VISIT. AFTER SHE SAID WE WOULDN'T SEE HER UNTIL AUGUST. WE SCARED HER FAMILY WITH OUR DELIGHTED SCREAMS. ANNILYN, DON'T STAY AWAY SO LONG EVER AGAIN.
-made Rolo cookies for the first time today. Yum.
-a weekend to do whatever I want. I've done some baking, watched a movie with the roomies.... reading, painting, and more of the same will follow I'm sure.
-I still need to take reference photos for Noah's Ark.... mom, if you could upload the ones that we manages to get that would be MARVELLOUS.
-I love Tonks and Sunny. One day, I will have my own house. In it, there will be birds, books, a studio, a kitchen, and a dance floor. And maybe somewhere to sleep.

Painting

So today, instead of reading or watching Avatar or doing whatever after writing my review of The Count of Monte Cristo, I painted. Working mostly on those angel paintings I started awhile ago and will probably hate soon (come save them before I give them flying lessons, mom, because I'm running low on unused boards and canvases and Hated Paintings are almost as good) and a new one, which is mostly finished because its small and simple and was basically just a "I haven't painted in awhile so I'm gonna take things easy to get into the swing of things" painting.

Lisa watched most of the time I was painting and I was actually able to mostly forget she was there, which was a good thing, or I would have been all self-concious and stopped painting. Though apparently watching me paint is rather entertaining...?

I took this picture and sent it from my new phone, just by the way. I'm still trying to get used to the new phone.

So

I haven't posted anything in awhile. This is mostly because I haven't really got much to say.

The job is awesome (as I've said) and I'm still getting used to, but rather enjoying, my free time (see book blog/list). Except for the fact that the hours of the MAC lab in the summer are cut short. Which means its only open for an hour after I leave work. Which is barely enough time to do anything. And I was going to develop my Drawing On The Computer Skillz this summer (*sigh*). I've been doing ALOT in Illustrator for Work (speaking of, I want to check with my supervisor to make sure its fine to post it in my art blog--it probably is, but just precaution, you know) but nothing in Photoshop. So me and the Pen Tool are good friends, but me and the Brush Tool & tablet.... eh, not so much. I guess I could draw here, but that would require borrowing Annie's computer and Jocelyn's tablet at the same time. Which is just... kind of alot of Simultaneous Borrowing From Roomies for Quite Awhile? Which I might do if I start to get desprate.

One day (*waving prophetic finger*) one day I will own my own MAC (complete with adobe suite) and tablet! And nice camera (that shoots raw but isn't too coplicated)! ONE DAY THEY WILL ALL BE MINE.

Anyway.

Shanelle is coming over tomorrow and I'm excited!

Shannon Hale is going to be at the Provo Library this Saturday and I'm excited!

Life is good and mostly stress free and I love it!

Complimentary, my dear.

Today was a day full of wonder and excellence.

Until I look back on it and realize that, while it was somewhat above average, the only real difference was feeling so happy. Maybe it was getting so many worries off my chest this weekend (Symposium speech, job interview, first swing team performance--all of which went quite well, yes, thanks for asking).

I slept in over an our later than I usually do this morning. This has a very simple explanation. I use my phone for an alarm clock--on vibrate under my pillow, so hopefully Caitlin isn't any more disturbed by my waking up than she needs to be. Well, I lost my phone yesterday. And Inkheart is a more gripping book than I was planning on, which I read before bed last night.

So I was about 40 minutes late to Intermediate Life Drawing this morning.

How is this good? My teacher lectures the first 30-40 minutes of class. It is all valuable information, etc., but he could really work on the animation in his voice, so I usually end up zoning out anyway. I arrived just as they were breaking up after the lecture and were starting the actual drawing... awesome.

My figure drawing looked decent, I thought. This is a good thing.

It was a beatuiful, blue-sky fluffy-cloud smile-at-the-sun day.

I had two hours before work. I had the leftover half of my ceasar wrap from the day before (delicious), checked e-mail and such, and did a couple quick run-throughs of the speech I'd be giving in my 4:00 class, public speaking. Today was the informative speech, so I would just be delivering a very summarized version of my Friday morning speech.

Work was good. I didn't have that many books to shelve, so I started dusting. I got a good excuse to stop dusting because there were alot of pulls from the shelf I had done and would be more in the next. (Yes, I know alot is supposed to be two words. This is me, not caring :-p so there.) I didn't want Janice to hate me for burying her desk in pulls she hadn't actually asked for, so I just wandered around asking customers if they needed help finding anything (they didn't, usually) and checking to see if the books were out of order (they weren't, usually).

Then I got to leave work early to go to public speaking. I ran down to the Lost and Found on my way (ish) to check if they had my phone... which they didn't. I'll keep checking, though.

Public speaking went very well. I definitely had much more preparation and practice than the others giving their informative speeches that day because I'd written a hugely long paper on the topic and given a presentation four times longer a few days before. I'd forgotten the visual aids I had wanted, which turned out to be a good thing because I probably would have gone overtime if I'd had them. As I went to sit down after the speech, a girl leaned over and whispered, "Wow, that was really good!" and the boy next to her nodded. During the break a couple people talked to me about my speech and complimented me on my choice of topic.

What can I say? Hero's Journey=awesomeness.

XD. (<= :D with squinty eyes.)

After public speaking I went to the Wilk Ballroom for Swing Club lessons. I had half an hour before they started to actually sit and read... oh joy! I wish I could have relaxed more during this time, but I didn't have my phone to check the time so I was wondering whether it was cancelled this week or....? But then people showed up.

Inkheart is exceeding my expectations, random side note. I am sometimes distracted from the story by reconstructing the prose (why didn't she just take that simile all the way to a metaphor? That sentence would flow better if she reversed those elements.... that is such a cliche.) but overall, very good. Mind you, I'm not even halfway though and my opinion could change.

Anyway, swing lessons. Before lessons actually started we were all standing around and the girl next to me said out of the blue, "I love your nose. Its, like, perfectly shaped and proportioned. And, just, yeah." An odd compliment, but I'll totally take it :-)

Today the intermediate group lesson was on girls working within the lead/letting the girls work within the lead. Like, not highjacking exactly, but just the girl taking control for just a couple counts and then letting the guy take up the lead again. All I've really learned to do with dancing is FOLLOW FOLLOW FOLLOW DON'T ANTICIPATE TONE TONE TONE FOLLOW FOLLOW FOLLOW so this was a great lesson. The lesson ended early ish so we had more time for social dancing afterward than we usually do. This was one of those good times where I was asked to dance alot and only sat out a couple songs. One time the swing coach (of the team I'm not on) asked me to dance and commented, "Wow, you're getting so good! You're really improving!" I, uh, did mess up a few times after this, but there is a no-reurns policy on compliments ;-).

Later another swing regular, Ben (there are like at least three swing regulars named Ben, which is fine because it makes the name thing that much easier, except for confusing them with the Dans...) asked me to dance and it was alot of fun. We didn't do any fancy moves or anything, but it was a really interactive eye-contact dance, with lots of silly grins and O RLY? faces and just playing around with simple steps.

Then we headed up for swing team practice. Before practice started a bunch of swing people were standing around in the hall talking and I joined them. Again out of the blue, Ben told me that I had really pretty rosy cheeks. "Whenever I see you, they're so round and pink and rosy, like that picture in the MOA." I knew what picture he was talking about, a very pretty one. The conversation turned to why my cheeks are rosy ("well, you always see me after I've been dancing,") complimenting my beautiful pronounced cheekbones and the classical beauty of my face. We went to team practice before I could start feeling really awkward.

At swing team practice we took a break from doing our routine. We learned that we're going to start learning another routine for an informal competition in a few weeks. We worked on doing a couple moves to use in later routines--one jump-and-spin one that I need to work on my landing for, and one jive one that I caught onto pretty quickly--and left early.

I had leftover Thai Ruby for dinner, thanks to the beautiful Caitlin. I love my roommates, especially the ones that feed me. :-)

Now I will do my reading for D&C, read Inkheart, and sleep.

FINALS

2 down.

4 to go.

Wish me luck.

I am not good at studying. I never really had to do it for most classes until I got to college, and I never really lived with my awesome and distracting and funny friends until college. Meh. *WILLPOWER*

The Happiest of Birthdays

We just finished our roommate gift exchange.

My gift was obviously a book, simply by looking at the size of the package, but also by how it felt through the paper, etc. When I opened it, it was some random obscure book that didn't really look to be my kind of thing... but I started to make grateful noises anyway. Annilyn laughed and told me there was a note inside.

Anyway, long story short, I was sent on a treasure hunt all through the apartment, looking for letters. I colleced letters from the books/belongings of all of my roommates, including myself (There was one on the Firefly disks, one one one of our english books from last year, one in my copy of King of Attolia, one in my scriptures, one in my butter...)

Finally, I had all my letters. But then I had to unscramble them. I am absolutely NO GOOD at unscrambling. I was given the option of looking the word up in Russian instead of unscrambling it.

Russian has a messed up alphabet. Just sayin'.

The Happily Ever After:

My totally awesome and wonderful roommate whom I love got me The Winter Prince for Christmas/my birthday! It will be coming in the mail any day now.

Dude, I've got great roommates, tuition for an awesome college, lindy hopper shoes, and my new favorite book for Christmas/Birthday. I think I've got about all I need for a seriously awesome Christmas... if I recieve much more awesomeness, I just might explode.

*grins to self*

Oh, and more awesomness of the night: the roommate I was supposed to give to was Annie, but I could not think of anything to get her that was, like, good and special and unique. It was down to the wire, so I just... cut her a few snowflakes. I felt like it was kind of a lame way to get out of buying a gift, but she actually seemed really happy with them. Actually, I was really happy with them... I tried a new way of doing the classic angel-with-trumpet snowfake which I think is my best yet. I also tried doing a word and image on the same snowflake (Peace, with a dove) which turned out looking pretty nice as well.

And Annilyn got a special gift for all of us because she's leaving. Annilyn has this very strange... mutation (:-p) where onions simply don't effect her. She'll be happily cutting onions in the kitchen while we're all blind with tears. Anyway, she got us a special onion chopper machine. The note said something like, "for my roommates, so you don't cry too much when I'm gone." Ha ha, get it? I was amused.

And Annie gave me her awesome bird-as-a-wig-and-cat-as-a-scarf art piece for my birthday. And also the DVD of Dark Knight, which I took to be kind of mostly a gift for the whole apartment but I'm very glad to have recieved it for myself just the same :D.

And our home teachers brought a little flame torch thingy over and sang happy birthday and let me "blow" the torch out.

So it was a very birthday all around. :-D.

Reading day

I didn't get much reading done this reading day. The library is partially to blame--Annie and I are WAITING to read The Empty Kingdom and the library is Taking its Precious Time getting it out on the shelves. If I didn't love the library, I would hate it right now.

Library, I take it back! I really do love you! I just want the book! I need it!

So I got my birthday present from the bookstore--a pound of fudge. I decided to try the Flavor of the Month, Eggnog. A pound is alot. But I'm sharing it with everyone, so its ok :).

I'm really missing my crayons. I haven't used them for weeks! Some girl from one of the neighboring apartments came looking for some crayons to borrow(maybe she figured that someone in the Art Major apartment would have crayons) and has never brought them back. This makes me Very Sad. I love my crayons.

Birthday Countdown: 2 days!

Up Late

So I've been pretty good about going to bed early enough to get a decent amount of sleep this semester. I'm usually in bed around 12:30 and up at 7:30 or 8, so thats about 7-8 hours of sleep, which I think is pretty decent.

Well, last night was different. (Today being the very last day of classes for the semester might have had something to do with it. But it was mostly just randomness.)

Annie had an art project that she needed to have done this morning. It involved the same sort of weird creepy awesome style that is hers... (It looks like she mostly has photos on here, but there are also some weird creepy awesome drawings: http://annstinator.deviantart.com/gallery/#_featured)

So anyway, Annie was doing this art project which had a bald lady with a bird draped over her head instead of a wig. She wanted to do another person with some other kind of animal draped over it--maybe a fox or something. She didn't really make alot of progress on the drawings. I was just doodling, drawing nothing in particular, so I decided to try my own version. So I did a quick doodle:

Photobucket

It was somewhere between one and two in the morning. I was kinda chuckling to myself after drawing it. But I didn't stop there. Tired and amused, I did another drawing:

I was chuckling to myself as I finished it. Annie looked over and... well, anyway, the drawings were a hit ;-). Since I'm not normally one to draw random weird things like these, all I can say is it was getting pretty close to two in the morning and I was looking at Annie's awesome weird drawings.

And, just by the way, I did get to bed at 2:30ish. And it only took me an hour or two to get to sleep. And I did go to class this morning and pay attention and take notes and stay awake.

The End.

Birthday Countdown: 3 days!

Doorbell ditching hilarity

Oh my goodness, we're all in such a hyper giggly mood right now. And I have to write up the reason before we forget.

So yesterday, today, and tomorrow our ward is doing this Secret Santa thingy. Each day is themed on a different letter--J, O, then Y.

Anyway, Jocelyn got her Secret Santa gift all ready and delivered it to the apartment which was on the piece of paper telling her who/where her assigned person lived. It just so happened that the apartment was our next-door neighbors. After delivering it she looked in the ward directory to see who lived in that apartment. (Our directory is organized according to apartments.) She saw that the girl she'd been assigned didn't actaully live in that apartment. I looked through the directory and found that the girl that she had actually lives up on the third floor.

Well, that was a bit of a dilemma. How to get the present back to deliver it to the right person...

We debated just going up and knocking on the door, but that wouldn't be any fun. So Jocelyn wrote a note on a scrap of paper:

Hi! I just accidentally delivered my gift for _____ on your porch! Could you please put [it] on the porch for me to pick back up? Thanks! Have a great evening.

I forget who delivered that note, but they doorbell-ditched it and ran, keeping our door open for a quick and easy escape.

We waited a couple minutes. We peeked out and saw a note on their doormat. Someone (forgot who again) ran and picked it up.

It was the note that we'd left before, but with the backside up. On it they'd written: For a price.

We debated about how to answer that, what kind of things we could give them to 'pay' for it. Finally we decided on just another note, which I delivered:

I have a wife & 9 children, thats a total of 10 mouths to feed. I just can't afford to get a new gift, I'm desperate. Please give me my gift back?

We waited a few minutes, but nothing showed up on their doorstep. So we left another note, which I also delivered.

Cruel Women! Have you no hearts?

A couple minutes later we checked again. Both notes were on the doorstep. On the back of the first it said, Your plight has touched our hearts. Merry Christmas! and on the other it said, We delivered it for you.

So how were we supposed to answer that? Much laughter accompanied our debate. Eventually, what happened was this: Annie made a 'mask' out of a piece of purple paper she'd cut two eye holes in and taped to her glasses. She, Annilyn, and I put blankets over our heads (well, mine was a bright orange towel--great for stealth, those bright orange towels) so we wouldn't be recognised. Deidre, Jocelyn, and Brooke went up to the floor above so they could watch without being seen (or participating. Scaredy-cats). On our way out the door the first time, Annie and Annilyn were laughing so hard and were so nervous that they had to go to the bathroom before we could actually go.

I went first, then Annie, then Annilyn. Annie stood slightly in front, me and Annilyn stood on each side of her, like henchmen. I rang the bell. The door was thrown open by someone determined to catch the doorbell-ditchers, but the expression on her face quickly turned from triumph to fear/surprise/WUT?!?. A couple of her roomates and some guy who was visiting were watcing too. In a very weird, gravelly voice Annie said,"We wanted to thank you personally for delivering our gift. You will recieve blessings in heaven." Then we ran away around the corner and went in the sliding door so they wouldn't know we were their next-door neighbors.

Jocelyn, Deidre, and Brooke could see the whole thing from upstairs. They said that when we ran off one of the girls said, "What? Where are they going?" and they were laughing really hard. One of their other roomates walked up and they said, "Oh my gosh, you just missed it!"

So that was our evening of hilarity. Now back to homework. I don't want to think about finals...

Abandoned

Its official. Annilyn is leaving me to some unknown fate with some unknown (well, not known yet) roommate so she can go to Russia (and New Zealand) next semester.

This is not fair.

Jocelyn and I got back from visiting teaching and I was going to go straight in to finish the paper thats due tomorrow morning. (I have one page written. Its supposed to be five pages long.) But just as we were arriving at our apartment door, Annilyn came out. She was wearing her coat and had her purse and seemed a bit hurried.

"Where are you going?" Jocelyn asked.

"I'm going to Moscow next semester! I'm going to Thai Ruby to celebrate. Deidre and Annie are already there."

So instead of going in to co homework, Jocelyn and I joined them at Thai Ruby (which is like our official roommate celebration restaurant, just by the way.) I didn't get a full meal, but I got some absolutely delicious mango dessert (SO GOOD) and we talked and, well, celebrated.

On the way back Jocelyn and Deidre were talking about how they had looked into going to China next year, after Annilyn told them about going to Russia. It costs less than room/tuition here does, and its a full year away... maybe me, Jocelyn and Deidre could all go to China in 2010. Its not like I have many years in this stage of my life to do this sort of thing...

Headache

Signing up for classes... so time consuming, and frustrating, and... headache inducing. And I haven't even done it yet--I've just been looking at classes, so that when I'm allowed to sign up for them tomorrow night I can just go straight to the ones I want and sign up for them, without wasting time looking at all the classes.

(I had music playing the whole time and I sang along the whole time and now I'm hoarse. Which is just another sign that this is taking much too long.)

Trying to get the classes to fit in a reasonable schedule is HARD. I have my work schedule to work around, which creates a difficulty that my roommates (etc.) don't have, so that complicates it significantly. (And I LIKE my job, I don't want to try and get a new one. My last job was a bit easier to work around, and not a bad one, but still.)

Ideally, I'd want about the same workload as I have this semester, which I think is reasonable-- 16.5 credits, plus work. Enough to keep me busy, but with some free time now and then for painting and reading and hanging out with roommates and dancing Saturday nights and such. (Well, technically I don't quite have time for all those things, when you take into consideration the Homework I Don't Do Because I Can Easily Get Away With Not Doing It.) This semester has been pretty much awesome, while I'm on the subject. (I've been meaning to do a My Life Is Seriously Awesome Right Now post, but I've never gotten around to it. This can be it I guess.) My roommates are awesome, my classes are (mostly) awesome (or, in the cases of Art History and Physical Science, they're not all that bad) my job is awesome, my ward is awesome, my apartment it awesome, and... well, yeah. You get the point.

But signing up for classes? (Back to the original subject...) So not awesome. I've made a list of classes I'm going to try to get (I think it's pretty likely I'll get into most/all of them) and they add up to only 14.5-15.5 credits. All the other classes either conflict with the classes I need/want to take more, my work schedule, are already full, or I just don't want to take them. And I can't find the World of Childrens Book Publishing that my Writing for Children teacher is doing next semester, maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places? And that'd fit my schedule (but overlap the free swing lessons Tuesday nights. Again. Tuesday nights just really fill up. Tuesdays are my busiest days this semester. In case you were wondering.)

One good thing is, with the classes I currently have listed to sign up for, I won't have anything I have to do Fridays but work. I'm all over the longer/earlier weekend thing.

Anyway. I'm not really sure who cares about all this, but I felt the need to vent.

Hey, Guess What...

...turns out that the the bookstore was having a costume contest on Friday. I guess I kinda knew that, but I just didn't really think about it, if you follow me... my thoughts didn't go beyond "hey we can all dress up on Halloween and it'll be great fun yay." I never actually considered that I'd, you know, win anything.

But guess what... I got second place! Yeah! Talk about Annilyn's awesome costume-making skills...

(Third place was a friend of mine from Highschool/seminary council. She and her husband dressed up as... wait for it... Thing 1 and Thing 2. Complete with spiky blue wigs and the whole shebang. I didn't recognise the name of the first place winner, I don't know what s/he dressed up as.)

Happy Halloween!

Ok, first news: The first chapters of MWT's next book has been recieved by the publishers. http://community.livejournal.com/sounis/199654.html?nc=29
It does not say, however, whether or not this will be an Attolia-realted book or not. It will be absolutely marvelous whether it is or isn't, but I'd really like to know what happened to Sophos and... well, yeah. Lets just hope its an Attolia book.

That said, today was, as you know, Halloween. I woke up, went to physical science, did a bit of homework, ate lunch, and then got out the costume I'd be wearing to the bookstore. And I was absolutely brilliant and only left myself about an hour to get it all ready and get there, including pinning it because it's Annilyn's and therefore like seven inches too long for me. So I was rushing out the door so I didn't get a picture. I wore it all during work and it was wonderful and when I got home all my roommates were getting their costumes ready, so I took it off so Annilyn could wear it so I... didn't get a picture of it. Well, not another picture. Its the red Renaissance dress I'm wearing in all those paintings, so its not as if you don't know what I look like in it.

I hadn't really decided what I'd wear to the ward party. I thought I might be Chicken Cordon Bleu... er, Chicken Chord On Blue, that is. But Jocelyn reminded me of my awesome colorful skirt, which I really wanted to wear. So I put it on, and was trying to think of some kind of costume it would work for.

I wore the colorful skirt, with green leggins, green capris, long sky blue flowered socks with a short fluffy blue sock and a long fluffy purple sock over. A striped green and pink shirt, a bright orange sweat shirt, four multi-colored bracelets on each wrist, three colorful necklaces, a green and blue scarf, a pink and blue and brown and green winter hat, and a blue coat over all (the coat only for outside, though). Then I painted my face, with Annilyn's help.

I was a rainbow.

I tried to take my own picture of myself. It didn't work so well.

Mom, go get Lynzee and everybody because, yes, she is dressed up as Zuko as the Blue Spirit. Have I mentioned that Zuko is made of awesome? Because he is. (They call the show Avatar to make you THINK its about Aang, but what it REALLY is about is Zuko and how awesome he is.)

Last Saturday

Last Saturday we were going to go to this comedy show in the Mazer building. But, when we got there, we were told that tickets were sold out. Meh.

So we were hanging around outside the Mazer building and somehow we had the idea to go around to all the statues on campus and take our pictures with them. After all, we were already right next to one of them.

Thats Brooke up on the statue.

On our way to the Tree of Life, we stopped by the Ball.

Me, Annilyn, and Brooke as the Tree of Life.

So we were on our way to the statue of the mom and dad holding hands with a little kid when we passed the SWKT, which had its lights on (it was getting kinda lateish...) We were wondering what was going on in there. Annilyn said she thought it was the international cinema movie, probably the Kite Runner, and it was supposed to be starting around that time, maybe.

We walked in just as the opening credits started.

It was such a good movie. Mind you, it was edited a bit (this is BYU, of course, and its a PG-13 movie) and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to see the unedited version, but we all liked it alot.

Oh, and here is my window. Because I felt like showing it. And, before you ask, no, I haven't finished the hair on the one of the girl reading. I'll get around to it... eventually.
